The Teknix Concepts MADI A/B Switcher works like most standard A/B switches, allowing "A" or "B" only. Use this heavy-duty switcher to easily and reliably switch between (2) digital audio playback rigs with AES3 or AES10. It also has an On/Off (Mute) switch, so you can program and test without sending audio to the outputs. This way you don't need to modify the I/O in the session or mute channels at the audio consoles, making edits and programming possible without forgetting to reset your patch; saving critical time by utilizing a single switch. This unit is a passive true bypass digital audio switcher that uses a convenient manual switch to toggle between inputs A and B. It is rugged and hand made in the USA with the finest components to ensure long life and reliability. It comes with a 1-year manufacturer warranty, and a lifetime guarantee for support and repairs.The Teknix Concepts MADI A/B Switcher has (2) buffered outputs for sending the selected audio source to (2) different receiving sources, like Monitors & Front Of House, or Front Of House & Broadcast, to name a few possible solutions. There is no loss of audio quality and a negligible loss of volume, making this A/B switcher virtually seamless to integrate. MADI, also called AES10, can pass up to 64 channels of digital audio, and this unit meets all the requirements of AES3 & AES10 specifications as defined by the Audio Engineering Society (AES). The high performance design has minimal insertion loss, fault tolerant operation, and is ultra-compact and lightweight. The passive splitter is fault tolerant due to the high isolation between the outputs, which allows an open-circuit, short-circuit, or incorrect termination on one output; having almost no effect on the quality of the remaining output. The complex transformer arrangement also minimizes output and insertion losses, therefore outperforming simple resistor splitters.
Use this MADI switcher as an On/Off or an A/B switcher. Simply connect your BNC cables from (2) playback I/O interfaces (or computer cards) to the (2) BNC inputs of the Teknix Concepts MADI A/B Switcher, and use the (2) BNC outputs of the Teknix Concepts MADI A/B Switcher to connect to your MADI receivers (consoles/snakes). This unit is passive and does not require a power supply.
The Teknix Concepts MADI A/B Switcher passive splitter supports all of the AES transmission rates between 1Mb/s and 150Mb/s, and is therefore compatible with all digital audio, including AES3 & AES10. It is a very cost effective alternative to powered distribution amplifiers, and saves on weight & space. It operates at 75Ω ± 2%, unbalanced. The return loss is <18dB to 150Mb/s and has an insertion loss of <3.5dB.
